Ashihara Karate in Swaziland plays hosts to one major tournament each year - the Swazi Open International Championships. Prior to the start of this tournament, a few events were held under the direction of the late Mathokoza Dlamini. Smaller tournaments are also held throughout the year.
The rules used in tournaments are "Full Contact" and "Semi-Contact". Semi-Contact uses the clicker system of continuous point scoring. Clicker fighting prepares the student for Full Contact sparring and this and other innovations have made the events exciting to watch. A kata division is also included in the championships with demonstrations of weapons kata which will be introduced at some stage as a division.
Swaziland Ashihara Karate then selects of its students to compete in the Annual Sabaki Challenge & International Championships which is usually held in Cape Town in the month of August.
We would certainly enjoy having you and your team sharing this experience with us.
